Empty Records US continues to document the northwest scene with the debut 7" from THE PINKOS. Vocalist/guitarist Vanessa (x-BELL) and drummer/vocalist Steve (x-GITS) fuse elements of pop and rock into a sound that is reminiscent of early acoustic punk like the VIOLENT FEMMES. Their four song EP includes the raucous "Pinkos Theme", the tough girl pop of "Im Gonna Get Him" and "Pirate Girls," and concludes with "Dog Soldiers," a ballad with a definite early Kinks influence (or so were told by a kinks fan). These four songs address politics and raw emotionalism with a smirking wit and poetic poignancy. Better red than dead!
