Red Rose Girls
Self Titled
(MTR407)
Following in the old-time legacy of Portlands Old-Time stalwarts The Dickel Brothers comes The Red Rose Girls. These three women are already making a name for themselves on the scene belting out sweet and dirty harmonies around town. These simple and fun traditional recordings will please fans of the Carter Family, Doc Watson, etc. In the custom of rural musical history of the 20s and 30s, they give you no reverb, no mandolin, and no fake hillbilly accents just raw acoustic guitars and intimate harmonies. They lay down strong rhythms underneath the old songs that range from fierce and primal to trance-like. As one fan put it, "The Red Rose Girls make people rock who never knew they wanted to rock in the first place."
