King Louie & the Loose Diamonds
Memphis Treet
(MTR420)
Color vinyl is all sold. Only black vinyl left.
A truly amazing all star band comprised of ring leader King Louie Bankston (Persuaders, Kajun SS, Exploding Hearts, Black Rose Band), Jack Yarber (Oblivians, Cool Jerks, Tearjerkers), Harlan T. Bobo (Viva L'American Deathray Music), Adam Woodard (Tearjerkers), and Chad Booth (Kajun SS). These diamonds are in fact not so loose, but tight, and covered in that Memphis grease / power pop that you just can't wipe off. The Diamonds began recording this gem at Easley Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, but when an electrical fire broke out that burned the whole studio, the boys thought the album was doomed. Luckily and eerily enough, the masters came out unscathed. Not being able to finish there, they recorded the three remaining songs at Jimbo Mathus' (Squirrel Nut Zippers) Delta Recording Studio in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Jimbo even contributed some of his guitar handy work on a few songs. The two sessions were then mixed by none other than Jim Dickinson, who has recorded and produced Big Star, Tav Falco, The Replacements and has played piano on Rolling Stones and Flamin' Groovies albums. Through scabies, fire, and disaster this record has survived it all and has landed on your turntable. Enjoy.
